Feather banners (also called flag banners or beach flags) are tall, moving flags that catch the eye from the road, a car park or across a field. They’re one of the cheapest ways to make a shop entrance, market stall or event impossible to miss. But which shape should you choose?
The three main shapes
- Shark fin: a straight pole with an angled top, like a fin. Clean and modern, and the full flag area stays visible even with little wind. Shark fin banners from R890.
- Teardrop (curved): a rounded top on a bent pole. It holds its shape well, so your logo is easy to read. Curved feather banners from R980.
- Telescopic: a tall, straight rectangular flag that gives you the most printable area for text. Ask us for a quote.
Which height: 2 m, 3 m or 4 m?
- 2 m: indoor events, shop counters and small stalls.
- 3 m: the most popular size for shopfronts, markets and sports days.
- 4 m: roadside visibility and big outdoor events.
Single or double sided?
A single-sided flag is printed on one side and shows a mirror image from the back. A double-sided flag reads correctly from both directions, which is worth it where people approach from both sides, such as a pavement or a car park entrance. Single-sided flags are sold in pairs.
Ground spike or base?
Our feather banners come with a ground spike for grass and soil. On paving, tar or indoors you’ll need a cross base, and a water bag on top keeps it steady in wind. Ask us to add one to your order.
Design tips
- Put your logo in the top half, where the flag is widest.
- Use a few large words, not sentences. People see it for a second or two.
- Use strong contrast so it reads from across the road.
